Dad (17th of February)

In my journal yesterday I wrote that dad's next appointment would be the 8th of March. It helps knowing people in the right places: the new date of this appointment is now the 21st of February, so next Monday. That's a big difference and we are glad. 3 weeks seemed so unbelievably far away.

Angela's youngest sister called yesterday and asked her whether she would mind not coming to the appointment, as both her other sisters already want to go. BUT they would mail her a list with questions so she would be able to add her own. At least her questions will be asked during the appointment too then. It seems like her youngest sister is also starting to look at it realisticly. They have been talking about being grateful if he would make another year, but are frightened that they might not make that. There are some things dad is looking forward to, so hopefully this might give him enough energy to fight. He would still like to go away with the camper in summer and he would like to experience the first birthday of his grandson (the son of Angela's youngest sister). So we will wait and see. I guess for now it's better to be realistic than be too hopeful. It was good to see Angela on the phone with her sister for that long... it doesn't happen too often and it's good to see that they are pulling together now. And that they are thinking about each other too.

Yesterday's dinner

It was nice yesterday, we went out to dinner at Henk's place (a fellow radio amateur and friend). This we have been doing more often for the past year. Either he comes at our place or we eat over there. A couple of days ago he was at our place eating macaroni and now we were at his eating boerenkool (as soon as I know what this is in English I will change this to the English word). In the end we were there till 22:45. So a bit late, but it was great! :) We had bought dessert, as it was a special day yesterday one of the desserts was 3 chocolate ice..yummy!

Who's reading my journal?

Yesterday I found out that my mum and one of my brothers reads my journal (*waves*). This is great but also a bit unexpected. I don't know why though, I guess it's just weird knowing that they will now know much more about my life than I know about theirs...lol. I've been talking to my mum on the phone yesterday too. We've talked about Angela's dad and the difficult time ahead. We also started about the marriage thing, but then my nephew woke up so we then put the phone down. I guess I do know (at least partly) how they think about gay marriage, as my dad even talked in favour of it in the church! :) But well, we will have to see as at the moment the idea has been put at the backburner. But I guess next time we visit my parents we have got plenty to talk about ;) I do have to watch my language now though! (lol). I like the idea, just have to get used to it a bit. There's one good thing though: at least now I know that I'm not just writing for myself but that some people are actually reading it. That's good to know!

On the same note: thanks for all the people who I called or who we emailed etc. There are so many people who said that I can call them night or day if I need it. And that they are there for us. It's good to know, even though we partly have to get through this together. It's wonderful to know you are in people's minds and that they worry about what's happening too. So thanks for everyone, you all know who you are!

Some humour(which we now really need)

A crowded Virgin flight was cancelled after Virgin's 767's had been withdrawn from service. A single attendant was re-booking a long line of inconvenienced travellers.

Suddenly an angry passenger pushed his way to the desk. He slapped his ticket down on the counter and said, "I HAVE to be on this flight and it HAS to be FIRST CLASS!"

The attendant replied, "I'm sorry sir, I'll be happy to try to help you, but I've to help these people first, and I'm sure we'll be able to work something out".

The passenger was unimpressed. He asked loudly, so that the passengers behind him could hear, "DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHO I AM?"

Without hesitating, the attendant smiled and grabbed her public address microphone: "May I have your attention please," she began - her voice heard clearly throughout the terminal. "We have a passenger here at Gate 14 WHO DOES NOT KNOW WHO HE IS. If anyone can help him find his identity, please come to gate 14".

With folks behind him in line laughing hysterically, the man glared at the Virgin attendant, gritted his teeth and said, "Fvck You!". (pardon the lanuage mum ;) )

Without flinching, she smiled and said, 'I'm sorry, sir, but you'll have to get in line for that too."

This just had me laughing so hard I thought you all might like it too. I really think that this flight attendant deserves a medal for handling the situation so well and with such acute humour!
